New Years Revolutions

Friday 1.1.10
Pinch, punch, first of the decade, no returns for ten years.

It's a time for resolutions. As I'm writing, there is an advertisement on the TV for a crochet magazine with dvd in weekly parts. Before that, an exercise programme by an all girl group. Most irritating is a campaign fronted by Martine McCutchen encouraging the populace to eat yogurt. I shan't be doing any of these things, but almost every year I make a couple of resolutions. Which is to say, I make plans. Going on past performance, there's a hit rate of 50%, which I don't think is too bad. I don't do diet or exercise ones though, and I've never had to give up smoking, drinking or drugs. This may explain why I'm fat and boring.

I'm not going to write down here what the resolutions are. Like infatuations, they are better enjoyed in secret. Some people, (Nina included much to my shock) have the decade mapped out. I'm not going that far. Just as far as a couple of gigs for spring and an exam in the summer. Wouldn't want to jinx the fresh start feeling of a new decade with thoughts of death. Best just to direct the mind to matters of double glazing. I'm already giving too much away.

I have a feeling that for me, 2010 will be about finishing things off and making progress with one or two new ideas. A quiet revolution. I'm starting off feeling pretty good about it. Wishing you success in your endeavours this year.
