Friday 11.9.09

My mood has completely lifted. This seems to be entirely random, I just woke up feeling normal. Nina had the day off today, so we spent most of it together and got lots done, running errands and cleaning the house.

In spite of the need not to spend money this month (last month's three trips away left a big overdraft) we bought a new Hoover. The last one gave up the ghost. I can't be too cross about that, not having had all that much use it had been with us a good while. Buying a replacement was interesting. There was a choice of around thirty models, price range £50 to £350, but how to make the selection? I didn't want to spend too much, but £50 seemed too cheap. Most were about £100, which seemed an alright price but then what? I was a bit bamboozled. In the end I bought one with a paw print on on a red machine. Those were the two key criteria that made it the best for me. I suspect that the £50 does exactly the same thing, but I'll bet it doesn't have the above gadget. I will never use that special thing because I don't know how to fit it on to the machine, and also, I don't know what I would use it for. Ace though isn't it?

Nina refused to go halves on it with me. This is in spite of the fact that she will use it more than me (I always make her Hoover the stairs, she loves it). The shop worker warned her not to get over excited about it. Her words were wasted, Nina squealed with excitement as she unwrapped it.

After the ace veggie curry I made for tea, I got an email from my former boss agreeing in politely formal tones to provide the reference. It was a relief, I had begun to worry a little. Maybe I want this college thing more than I'm letting myself believe. UCAS next. Gulp.
