Handmade Life

So, not doing Hundred Days because I haven't been able to find the charger for my camera. Maybe I just didn't have the energy or motivation or whatever. Some people have done amazing stuff so I've had the vicarious enjoyment if not the benefit.

I thought I had better blog or it might die, but I'm without amusing anecdotes. A round-up is gonna have to do.

On Friday, H and I went to see Chris Wood as part of the Mosley Folk Festival. I have a fondness for his work, and during the time I was living with Nan in Cornwall, I used to put his music on and listen to it in the dark before I slept. He has had a fair bit of success lately thanks to winning the Radio 2 Folk Awards and has got himself a grant from the Arts Council so now he's touring with a band. I preferred it when it was just him, his guitar and fiddles, but I wonder if it was a bit of an off night. We were in a long, narrow club room with poor acoustics and no sound system to speak of. It all seemed a long way away. Having said all that, Chris has some brilliant new material and has developed some stuff that I heard him do in rough form in the early part of last year. I bought the Latest CD, Handmade Life, but haven't listened to it, which perhaps tells its own story - it says that I am spoilt. He sold loads, exclusively to the live show audience, it isn't officially on sale until the spring. The photos and layout are brill, so at least I've enjoyed seeing the CD, which is the point isn't it. www.chriswoodmusic.co.uk

I got my second computer test for the OU done. It meant doing three days work in less that 48 hours and I was ragged by the end of it. The score isn't back yet, but I think it might be 70% or so. There is a written assignment due very soon that I haven't begun. I never learn.

Christmas is coming, the house is a mess, I promised I would go down to Cornwall but have no money or prezzies to take, I'm still undecided about putting my UCAS application for Uni in. Life goes on.
