Wednesday 9.9.09

According to some fools, the world was supposed to end today. It hasn't. Oh well.

Still feeling horrid, apart from perking up for a couple of hours between 3 and 5 this afternoon. Two good hours is enough to be going on with for the moment though.

While I was utilising the good part of the day to clean the kitchen I was idly thinking about one of those listener phone-ins. The one I was thinking of was on Andrew Collins 6music show. Listeners were asked for "good day/bad day" tunes. It was just a little remarkable because the eighteen year old listener had picked The Smiths, Every Day is Like Sunday as his good day tune. That's the one that goes 'come, come nuclear bomb'. So I got to thinking what I would pick and why. Good Day: Billy Bragg, Sexuality. Up beat, anti-oppressive, with some personal meaning, good tune. I'm always reminded of the excellent video that went with it, directed by Phill Jupitus and featuring Billy, Phill, Kirsty McColl, Jonny Marr, Wiggy and others. Bad day? Hmm, plenty of choice there. Most recently I like Joe Gideon and the Shark, Anything You Love That Much You Will See Again. It's a haunting bluesy-punk anthem. The Amazon fairy sent me their album today.
