Today was energetic and productive in spite of getting to bed at 3am. I was all buzzed up from the Richard Herring gig, thinking about the concepts of the show and the way he dealt with the material. I was also feeling a bit weird about coming to bed since Nick and I had fallen out. He had waited up for us, which was sweet, and he was anxious to make up, but I was feeling hurt. In the end I stayed up watching Torchwood, which is just at the end of a good series, to take my mind off things.
In spite of all this, I had a good stab today at getting the house and laundry sorted, plus a trip to the supermarket. I Spent some time messing about trying to download an audiobook with limited success. I begin to feel I need to get a bit more techno-competent before I go do the Diploma I'm planning. Gotta compete with the twenty-year-olds who have been bred with silicone in their veins (only some have silicone in their breasts I'm told).
Darcy and I went for a walk around Lake View. It's a strange park, saved from development by its key feature, it acts as a flood plain in rainy weather. I haven't been up there for a while. Darcy and I used to go there plenty when he was a puppy, often extremely early in the morning in the days when I couldn't sleep and would wait for the sky to lighten so it would be safe to go for a walk. One time, I met an old man who said that now I had the dog, people wouldn't know there was anything wrong with me. I was shocked that I had been so transparent to a stranger, now it's evident to me that the man was himself walking in the park at 6am and presumably had his own troubles. Anyway, Darcy loves Lake View, it's a great place for chasing the pigeons and paddling in the streams.
We all watched the last of Torchwood this evening. I understand that they won't make any more, which seems sad as it has been good and there ought to be room for another series or two. Budget cuts I guess. It went out on a high though.
Plans for the weekend then ? None, but I think I'll have to have a 'be nice to my husband day'.
