Nick and I spent lots of time together today, making up and overcompensating for yesterday's argument by spending a lot of money on a new toy for Nick. The magic was back, better than before. The kids got no attention, but then, they were busy with their own things. The adrenaline spurred us on so that by 11am, we had spent £600, I had been rude to the pushy shop assistant at Comet, and were on our way to McDonalds for lunch, not bad for a Sunday morning.
In the evening, I went out with Nina to the Tin Angel, furthering the quest for acts for her Oxfam fundraiser. The compere helped her out with an announcement, and several performers came up to her to offer help, which was fantastic. Well worth the £1 admission. The other worthwhile outcome was that we had a good chat about all sorts of mother/daughter stuff including what she wants for her birthday. It's vital to talk about the important things.
