Wednesday 29.4.09

What withe all the sleep I've had over the last couple of days I've been energetic today. I was motivated to do several hours of much needed housework today. Sadly, I don't think anybody noticed, which is why I don't generally bother. Never mind. I managed to quite enjoy it and used my ears at the same time to listen to fabulous Scroobius Pip hosted spoken word podcasts, and to radio shows from the Camden Crawl, including (joy of joys) Billy Bragg's whole set at the Dublin Castle.

H and I went out to the pictures this evening to see X-Men Origins Wolverine. Nick was too tired to come, but he looked better when we got back. Nina had Pete over and cooked for them. I remember that I used to like the chance to cook for Nick. I must say, that novelty has definitely worn off. I managed sausage and salad sandwiches for tea for us. Lucky him.

X-Men Wolverine was watchable, but not inspired. I'm fond of the first two films in the series, the third was heavy on big action sequences and killed off too many characters. This one, a prequel had all of the usual disadvantages of having to fill in the gaps. Poor characterisation of new characters, slow first third, predictable ending. We enjoyed it though, and its nice to do something with H, who is naturally a bit low (and who is a bit proud and keeping it all in).

Nick and I watched The Apprentice this evening, and agreed about it and smiled. Wonders will never cease.
